WARN JOB DESCRIPTIONS

President

The president shall be the chief executive officer of the chapter. The president shall, in general, supervise and control all of the affairs of the chapter (Bylaw VII, section 1).

REQUIREMENTS

- Current Wisconsin licensure as an RN; CRRN preferred
- Member ARN and WARN
- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing
- Have working knowledge of parliamentary law and procedures
- Have a thorough understanding of national and chapter bylaws and chapter policies
- Served as President Elect in previous year

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Chairman of the Board of Directors
- Ensures that Board of Directors meets regularly and functions effectively
- Calls all meetings of the Board of Directors and instructs the Secretary-Treasurer to issue appropriate notices to Board members
- Presides at all meetings of the Board of Directors (at least quarterly) and of the chapter (at least quarterly) unless responsibility is delegated to some other Board member
- Appoints standing and special committees as provided in the bylaws
- Communicates with the ARN regional director and with the ARN office regularly and as needed
- Submits an annual report for the current calendar year to the ARN office no later than January 31st of the following year
- Assures Board of Directors adequately discharge their duties
- Assures chapter compliance with bylaws , policies and parliamentary procedure
- Signs forms for operation of business as needed
- Attends meeting of chapter presidents during ARN annual conference (if unable to attend, delegates a chapter officer or member as alternate
- Serves as advisor to incoming president
- Submits letter for each chapter newsletter

President Elect

The President Elect shall perform the duties of President in the absence of the President or in the event of the President’s inability or refusal to act (Bylaw VII, Section 2).

REQUIREMENTS

- Current Wisconsin licensure as an RN, CRRN preferred
- Member of ARN and WARN
- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Acquires a working knowledge of parliamentary law and procedures
- Acquires a thorough understanding of chapter bylaws and chapter policies
- Accepts assigned duties by the President that will allow the President Elect to become familiar with a leadership role. May include overseeing the Silent Auction and vendor participation at all day conference, assists program co-chairs
- Attends all Board of Director and chapter meetings
- Attends ARN Leadership Seminar at national conference as delegated by the Board of Directors

Secretary-Treasurer

The Secretary-Treasurer shall record the activities of the chapter, maintain a permanent record of chapter activities, and maintain and disburse chapter funds (Bylaw VII, Sections 3 and 4).

- Member of ARN and WARN
- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends all Board of Director meetings and chapter meetings
- Records, distributes, and maintains a record of all Board of Directors meeting minutes
- Records, distributes, and maintains a record of all chapter meeting minutes
- Submits membership meeting minutes and treasurer’s report for each chapter newsletter
- Maintains accurate financial records of the chapter, including submission of financial reports to the chapter, payment of bills, and deposit of money
- Submits change of address and signature card to bank at beginning of term
- Prepares and submits annual financial statement for the current calendar year to the ARN office no later than January 31st of the following year
- Prepares and submits annual budget to Board of Directors
- Sends correspondence as delegated by the President, thank you notes to chapter program speaker
- Receives fees for advertising in newsletter and selling of membership mailing list

Education Program Chair

The Education Program Chair coordinates the educational offerings provided by the chapter throughout the year. The Education Program Chair reviews and develops the education plan and presents the plan to the Board of Directors for approval.

REQUIREMENTS

- Current Wisconsin licensure as an RN, CRRN preferred.
- BSN is preferred.
- Member ARN and WARN.
- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing.
- Demonstrated interest in coordinating education for the chapter.
- Working knowledge of CEU application process is helpful.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends all Board of Director meetings and chapter meetings
- Chairperson of the education committee
- Appoints chapter members to the education committee as needed, e.g. assign vendor and silent auction chairs
- Assigns tasks to and mentors the education program co-chair for following year responsibilities
- Develops plans for all educational programs presented by the chapter
- Reviews all program plans with the Board of Directors
- Submits written program information to the newsletter editor in advance of upcoming program. (Keep a year ahead in newsletter)
- Determines topics for education based on responses from previous educational program feedback and input from the Board of Directors
- Verifies location of programs, identifies equipment needs etc.
- Contacts, sends and receives commitment from speakers, determines honorarium for speakers with approval from the Board of Directors
- Completes necessary documentation within specified time frame for application and approval of contact hours
- Provides documentation of contact hours to educational program participants
- Develops educational program flyer and places same in ARN Newsletter and sends to others as directed by the Board of Directors
- Copies all outlines and handouts for educational program participants
- Contacts vendors for educational programs when applicable
- Maintains all educational program records and contact hours for at least five years

Education Program Co-Chair

The Education Program Co-Chair works with the Education Program Chair to develop and coordinate the chapter educational plan. The Educational Program Co-Chair assume the Educational Program Chair position the following year.

- Current Wisconsin licensure as an RN, CRRN preferred
- BSN is preferred
- Member ARN and WARN
- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing
- Demonstrated interest in coordinating education for the chapter

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Acquires a working knowledge of chapter educational program procedures
- Gains a working knowledge of the CEU application process
- Completes tasks as assigned by the Program Chair

Nomination Chair

The Nomination Chair is elected by the membership. The Nomination Chair is responsible for calling for nominations for Board of Director position vacancies, developing a ballot, and tabulating election results. The Nomination Chair may choose a committee to assist in this process.

- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends all Board of Director meetings
- Attends all chapter meetings
- Interacts with members at chapter meetings/by phone to elicit interest in those wishing to run for office
- Places a call for nominations and application for candidates in the chapter newsletter
- Prepares ballot and mails to WARN members
- Tallies ballots
- Notifies candidates of election results
- Sends thank you note to all candidates
- Submits results of election to newsletter editor for publication

Membership Director

The membership director is a non-voting position which is appointed by the Board of Directors. The Membership Director is responsible for the distribution of ARN and WARN membership information.

REQUIREMENTS

- Current Wisconsin licensure as an RN
- Member ARN and WARN
- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends all chapter meetings and educational offerings
- Distributes ARN and WARN information to all prospective members
- Discusses the benefits of membership with prospective members
- Solicits annual awards e.g. Rising Star, Nurse Excellence, ½ day drawings for all day conference and annual drawing for national conference, ARN/WARN membership and a certificate to the ARN store
- Obtains membership applications from ARN and distributes as needed

Historian

The historian is a non-voting position which is appointed by the Board of Directors to maintain a picture and written record of chapter activities.

- Current Wisconsin licensure as an RN
- Member of ARN and WARN
- Demonstrated interest in serving the best interests of rehabilitation nursing
- Camera to take pictures

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Attends all chapter educational programs
- Takes pictures of activities at all educational programs
- Maintains a record of all WARN events
- Submits pictures to newsletter editor for publication
- Takes pictures of WARN members at annual ARN conference
- Delegates another member to take pictures as needed
- Submits costs of pictures, historical album, etc. to Secretary-Treasurer
