Last business meeting was August 17, 2011 at the half-day education session.
Total WARN members 105.
President’s Report by Terry Gion
Board member introductions - Terry Gion President introduced the Board member in attendance: President-Elect Anne LeClaire, Judy Klaver, Secretary-Treasurer and Legislative Liaison, Mary Victory Program Chair, and Marty Castillo, Program Chair, Membership & Nominations Lynn Morgenstern, Past President Joyce Ennis, and Website Coordinator Lisa Salamon
Open Board positions 2011 to 2012 are President Elect, Secretary-Treasurer, and Program Co-Chair. No previous experience is necessary we do on the job training. Board members will be elected at the WARN annual education day April 16, 2011.
Member benefits:
At each ½ day education session we draw for a free registration to the WARN annual all day conference.
Each time a member attends a ½ education session their name is put into a drawing for prizes drawn at the annual conference. Currently we a funding the following prizes:
Registration to the ARN annual conference
ARN & WARN dues
Attendance at the WARN annual education day
Awards – Each year we receive nominations for the following awards:
Rising Star award – is for a nurse new to rehabilitation (less than two years)
Rehab Excellence award is for an individual who has been in rehab nursing and who has contributed to the growth of the practice of rehab nursing.
Community Benefit- is given to an organization that provides free or minimal charge services to disabled individuals.
Look for criteria and nomination forms on the website.

November 2012 at U W Madison
We are looking for hosts for 2013. The host site receives one free registration to the WARN annual education day. Today’s Host Lynn Morgenstern receives a free registration for an individual from Alexian Village to attend the April 16, 2011 conference at Chula Vista.
Legislative Update by Judy Klaver
The September 27th meeting addressed the plans for implementing the recommendations from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report The Future of Nursing. There will be several regional meetings across the state they are as follows:
Nov. 2, 2011 for the SE region at Waukesha County Technical College in Pewaukee
Nov. 3 for the NE region at the Marion University Appleton Center in Appleton
Nov. 10th for the NW region at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Clare.
Nov. 15th for the SW and Central regions at UW-Madison School of Nursing & a satellite connection site at Viterbo University in LaCrosse.
Registration is on the Wisconsin Nurses Association website.
Winner of the drawing for a free registration to the April 16, 2011, conference from the attendees of today’s conference was Terry Roznik.

No report the Wisconsin Nursing Coalition has not met over the summer. Next meeting is September 27, 2011.
